You have decided to list your home. Now what? One of the most common concerns sellers have is the idea that getting ready to sell takes months of work. The truth is, with a focused weekend and a clear plan, you can get your home looking fantastic for photos and showings. Here is how The Classic Team recommends approaching it.

Friday Evening: Walk Through With Fresh Eyes

Grab a notepad and walk through every room as if you are a buyer seeing it for the first time. Note anything that feels cluttered, outdated, worn, or in need of a quick fix. Check light bulbs, look at grout lines, check for scuffs on walls, and pay attention to smells. This honest audit is your weekend to-do list.

Saturday Morning: Declutter and Depersonalize

Start early and work room by room. Remove excess furniture, clear countertops, pack away personal photos and knick-knacks, and donate or box up anything that does not need to be there. Your goal is to create clean, open, neutral spaces that let buyers picture their own life in the home.

Saturday Afternoon: Deep Clean Everything

Once the clutter is gone, clean like you mean it. Scrub the bathrooms, degrease the kitchen, wipe down baseboards, clean windows inside and out, and vacuum every corner. If this feels like too much, hiring a cleaning crew for a few hours on Saturday afternoon is money very well spent.

Sunday: Finishing Touches and Curb Appeal

Sunday is for the details. Touch up paint scuffs with a small brush and matching paint. Replace any burned-out bulbs. Tighten loose cabinet handles. Then head outside: mow the lawn, sweep the porch, add a new doormat, and consider a small pot of flowers by the front door. These small touches make a huge impression in listing photos.
